The Kansas Jayhawks suffered a brutal road loss at the hands of the Texas Tech Red Raiders 79-50. The loss wasn't entirely unexpected thanks to the absence of the leading scorer for Kansas in Kevin McCullar. However, the final margin was much more than even the most pessimistic Kansas fans were prepared for.

Here are the good, bad, and ugly from this Big 12 match-up.

The Good

Freshman guard Johnny Furphy continues to show improvement. Furphy used his size to rack up seven rebounds to go along with his 13 points on 50% shooting from the field. Furphy also made an impact on the defensive end by getting a block and contributed with his playmaking racking up 2 assists on the game.

The Bad

The rebounding battle was a clear factor in deciding the game as it was obvious who was the better rebounding team in that matchup. The Jayhawks grabbed 16 fewer rebounds than the Red Raiders (42-26) and recorded only half of the offensive rebounds grabbed by the Red Raiders (8-4). Particularly concerning was that KJ Adams only got 3 rebounds on the night, and only one was on the offensive end.

The Ugly

Hunter Dickinson had a very uncharacteristic game where he seemed to struggle in every aspect of the game. The senior center put up 5 points and 7 rebounds shooting 2-of-12 from the field in 30 minutes of playing time. The big man set season lows in points per game and field goal percentage along with a season low -35 plus/minus.

Kansas now shifts their focus to their Saturday game against the No. 25 Oklahoma Sooners, who still have a midweek game against the No. 12 Baylor Bears tonight in Waco.  Kansas hopes to get some crucial pieces back so they can get back to their winning ways and avoid losing back-to-back games for the first time this season.
