In this story:

We’re assuming that everyone reading this will be tuning into Kansas at Nevada at 9:30PM Jayhawk time, but what to do with your Saturday before the big kickoff in Reno? There is a lack of quality games in the top 25, but here are our choices for games to keep you occupied until KU plays.

15 Kansas State at Missouri, 11:00AM SECN

K-State ventures over the state line for their first true test of the season when they face former conference foe and current SEC middle of the pack dwellers, Missouri. With a closer than they’d like win at home to Middle Tennessee State, the Tigers are going to have their hands full with Will Howard and the Wildcats who are 5.5 point favorites in this one.

8 Washington at Michigan State, 4:00PM Peacock

Michigan State is in a storm of controversy with their head coach suspended while sexual harassment charges are being investigated, so what better time to host one of the hottest teams in the nation? The Huskies have easily dispatched Boise State and Tulsa, but maybe, perhaps, Sparty is a different animal. For a school that has been habitually connected to controversy, perhaps we’re all Huskies fans this weekend?

12 Tennessee at Florida, 6:00PM ESPN

Conference action begins in the SEC early. Tennessee starts as seven point favorites on the road at the Swamp. This might not be as intriguing a matchup as it was before the Gators lost to Utah, but hey, you can kill some time with this one before checking out a few quality Big XII matchups that start just after this one does.

BYU at Arkansas, 6:30PM ESPN2

BYU heads on the road in the first test of the season for either of these teams. Both are 2-0, but both have wins over easier opponents and this game will go far to determine where each team stands when they start conference play the following week. This is the perfect appetizer for the KU/Nevada game as BYU comes to Lawrence in week four.

Pittsburgh at West Virginia, 6:30PM ABC

Another option is what the sportsbooks believe to be one of the closest games of the entire weekend in college football. The spread in this regional rivalry is just one point. Both teams have one win and one loss, so this rivalry game means even more and could determine bowl eligibility down the line.

TCU at Houston, 7:00PM FOX

The first Big XII conference game of the year features two one and one teams, each trying to get off to a successful start in the league. Houston’s loss to Rice is worse than the one the Horned Frogs suffered against Colorado, so it’s no wonder that TCU is a touchdown favorite on the road.
