Here's what you can watch after Kansas takes on Oklahoma

College Football Games to Watch, Week 9

In this story:

Week nine of college football isn’t exactly lined up with ranked teams playing each other with only two of those games taking place, and inconveniently, they happen at the same time. So after you finish watching Kansas take on Oklahoma, you’ll have some decisions to make. Since the KU game is the prime matchup in the early spot, all of our recommended games are set for afternoon or evening kickoffs.

8 Oregon at 13 Utah, 2:30 PM, Fox

This should be the marquee match of the weekend as both teams are 3-1 in league play and 6-1 overall. Both are coming off impressive wins (Oregon over Washington State and Utah over USC) and are looking to keep pace with the league leading Washington Huskies. The final season of the Pac 12 is shaping up to be the best we’ve seen in a long time.

20 Duke at 18 Louisville, 2:30 PM, ESPN

Nope, this isn’t a basketball game. It’s ranked Duke on the road at ranked Louisville in football in late October. Strange to write, yes, but reality. Louisville is a slim four point favorite in this one despite coming off a loss last weekend to Pitt. Duke also lost, albeit at the hands of number four Florida State, but they need this win to stay in the ACC race. The loser is likely out of what has shaped up to be a four team race at the top.

21 Tennessee at Kentucky, 6:00 PM, ESPN

Of all the games in the SEC this weekend, Las Vegas sees this game as the closest, and why not? Missouri recently knocked Kentucky out of the rankings and a two TD loss to Alabama recently saw the Volunteers slip further down the Top 25, but this is still a matchup of quality football teams with the loser dropping out of contention in the SEC East division. There’s a lot at stake in Lexington in this one.

Old Dominion at 25 James Madison, 7:00 PM, ESPNU

There’s no way anyone could have predicted that a game between Old Dominion and James Madison would feature in our games to watch column, but here we are. The undefeated and newly ranked Dukes get a national TV broadcast and I’m most excited to see if the score bug at the bottom of the screen goes with JMU or the always hilarious during basketball season moniker of James Mad. I’m hoping for the latter but only if they abbreviate Old Dominion as Old Dom to complete the insanity.

11 Oregon State at Arizona, 8:30 PM, ESPN

The betting houses think this will be the closest game in the Pac-12 this week, with highly ranked Oregon State a slim three point favorite on the road at Arizona. In their last outing two weeks ago, the Wildcats trounced a ranked Washington State team and before that had close losses to ranked USC and Washington. They’re trending up. Oregon State has won three straight, so something will have to give in an old fashioned west coast after dark game.
