Game Primer: How to Watch, Things to Know for BYU at Kansas

Here's everything you need to know ahead of today's conference opener

The Kansas Jayhawks fell a little flat last week in their attempt to make their case against one of the worst teams in the country. A late start combined with some weird turnover luck led to a much-closer-than-expected win over Nevada. But Kansas has an opportunity to make a statement today in their conference opener against the BYU Cougars.

Both Kansas and BYU are receiving votes in both Top 25 polls, and either one could find their way into the Top 25 with a victory today. The only prior meeting between these two teams came in the 1992 Aloha Bowl. Kansas scored the last 11 points of the game to seal a 23-20 victory.

Here are the essentials:

Fun Facts

The Jayhawks have a combined 216 combined career starts across their offensive line. That is 12th most in the country and could go a long way towards deciding today's game.

Under Lance Leipold, the Jayhawks have amassed 500 or more total yards in 9 out of 28 games (and 8 out of the last 16), including twice this season. The program only surpassed that mark in 7 games in the six seasons prior.
