Jayhawks still waiting for 2023 Top 25 debut.

The close call for Kansas wasn't enough to push them into the Top 25 for the first time this season.

Last week, the Kansas Jayhawks earned enough votes in both the AP Top 25 and the Coaches Top 25 to make me believe that they were basically a shoo-in for the poll this week. But after they narrowly survived on the road against an awful Nevada Wolf Pack, they actually lost votes in the poll, putting them further away from breaking into the poll. They earned 15 points in the AP poll (down from 19 last week) which puts them in 31st place and kept 17 points in the Coaches poll, which puts them in 33rd the Coaches Poll,

It was not a surprise that the voters didn't look kindly on the result for the Jayhawks. And I honestly don't really blame them. I expected much better from Kansas, and while I personally already had them in my Top 25 ballot, I don't think I could justify moving them up at all. Take care of business against the BYU Cougars this week, and it's hard to imagine that the Jayhawks get left out of the poll next week.

The Texas Longhorns pulled away in the fourth quarter, something that Florida State couldn't do, leading to those teams swapping in the AP Poll. Texas moved up to third while staying at sixth in the Coaches Poll. The only other Big 12 team in both polls is Oklahoma, who moved up three spots in the AP Poll to #16 and up two spots in the Coaches Poll to #14.

Receiving votes this week from the Big 12 are Kansas State, TCU, Kansas and BYU in both polls. UCF is also receiving votes in only the Coaches Poll.

There are six games on the schedule this week between two ranked teams. Three of them are in the Pac 12. Hopefully the Big 12 can get it together and have a few more of those games in the coming weeks..
