The Kansas Jayhawks finish off the season on the road in one of the most important games of the year: a rivalry matchup against the Kansas State Wildcats in the Sunflower Showdown.

Sure, the Jayhawks have already qualified for a bowl, but the Wildcats need this win to play in next week's Big 12 Championship game against the TCU Horned Frogs. And Kansas would like nothing more than to get this rivalry win and deny the Wildcats that opportunity. But just how competitive will this game be?

/Chandler voice/ Could I have BEEN more wrong about the Texas game? Sure couldn’t have. But that won’t stop me from (hopefully) being wildly wrong about this one too. I see no way in which Kansas goes to Manhattan and wins this game. K-State has the potential to play in a major bowl game (many are predicting the Sugar Bowl) if they finish the season strong, so who would pick the Jayhawks to go to purple town and get the W? Not me.

I would love nothing more than to pick KU this weekend, but it’s hard for me to envision it given the recent data we have on both teams. KU’s offense is limited if Daniels isn’t as much of a threat with his legs and we know about the defensive shortcomings. Meanwhile, K-State’s offense has looked sharp since Will Howard stepped in at quarterback. I’m optimistic it’ll be competitive, but sadly I’m expecting the losing streak to continue.

The Kansas Jayhawks will head to Manhattan, Kansas to take on instate rival the K-State Wildcats. I expect this game to have a lot of emotion and it to be physical. I truly believe the Jayhawks will be hyped up for this game and will be ready to play. I talked about it in my three keys article but the Jayhawks will have to put their high-scoring offense on display against one of the best defenses in the Big 12. If the Kansas defense can get K-State to punt the football a few times I see KU walking away with a victory.

I REALLY want to pick Kansas in this one, but it's hard to do given all of the questions surrounding the Jayhawks coming into this game. Kansas has a horrible run defense, and Kansas State likes to run with Deuce Vaughn. The ONLY thing that might help the Kansas defense here would be the potential for rain, which might make footing more difficult. But that cuts both ways.

Jalon Daniels is expected to start, and the hope is that he looks a lot better a lot earlier than last week. Devin Neal needs something in the passing game to take some pressure off of him defensively, and Kansas State likes to leave a cushion in the middle that Kansas might be able to attack consistently. Unfortunately, I see Kansas trying to play on the perimeter, which plays right into the Wildcats' strengths. If they can't get creative, this one could get out of hand quickly.
