Kansas Jayhawks open as big underdog against Oklahoma Sooners

Despite a near collapse at home last week for the Oklahoma Sooners, the oddsmakers don't expect the game between them and the Kansas Jayhawks to be particularly close. The opening line was set at 10.5 favoring Oklahoma, although early betting has the line down by a point to -9.5.

In fact, the oddsmakers don't seem to think that this slate in the Big 12 will be particularly close across the board, with the exception of the Iowa State trip down to Baylor this week. But the same thing could have been said about last week, with two huge favorites barely escaping with wins against two of the bottom teams in the conference.

The Jayhawks are just 3-4 against the spread this season, while the Sooners are now 6-1 after their near miss last week. There are plenty of reasons to go either way on this one, and I personally would probably stay away from the line, but the over of 68.5 looks pretty tempting, given the defensive performances of each of these teams recently.

The ending line for this one will depend heavily on the information that comes out before the game, including whether Jalon Daniels will return or if Jason Bean is the starting quarterback for this one. Additionally, the health of Hayden Hatcher and Jereme Robinson could have a huge impact on this one as well.

Kansas hosts Oklahoma on Saturday at 11am, with the game being broadcast during FOX's Big Noon Kickoff window. The Jayhawks are also hosting the Big Noon Kickoff show on FOX, starting at 9am. Details concerning how to be a part of the action will be released in the next day or two.
