5:55pm: Kansas forces another 4th down, and Iowa State is kicking the field goal for the tie. AND IT'S WIDE LEFT!
5:52pm: Kansas missed another chance to put this away.
Iowa State picks up a much-needed first down with 1:33 left to go. Ball at the KU 29. #kufball
— Conner Becker (@ctbecker) October 1, 2022
5:47pm: Not good execution by Kansas on offense, and they have to punt. Jaylin Noel got a decent return, but it's coming back
5:43pm: The fans are not happy about this one right now. Kansas has had too many mistakes and the play calling has been super conservative. There is a lot of tension in the stadium right now.
5:38pm: Kansas allowed a first down, but Lonnie Phelps had a huge sack to kill the drive, and Kansas has the ball back with 5:21 to go and a 3 point lead.
Lonnie Phelps gets another sack, and it's 3rd and 12 at the Kansas 48.

The crowd is getting loud!
5:30pm: Bad news for Kansas all around. Hishaw tries to make a play and ends up fumbling. But even worse is that he is down injured, and the cart is out on the field.
5:25pm: Kansas didn't do anything on that drive, but a fumble by Iowa State on the punt gives the ball back to Kansas!
5:20pm: The interception was overturned, but a bad Dekkers pass fell incomplete on 3rd and 9 and then this happened:
ANOTHER DOINK!
— Rock Chalk Podcast (@RockChalkPod) October 1, 2022
ISU hits it off the right upright AGAIN and Kansas keeps the lead!
5:15pm: Cobee Bryant picks off another pass at the KU 3 to stop the ISU drive. The play is under review.
5:12pm: Kansas missed on multiple chances to get off the field, and now ISU is driving at the Kansas 29. They converted a 4th and 7 to keep the drive going.
5:04pm: And we're on to the 4th quarter. Kansas still leads 14-11, but ISU is driving.
Regardless of what happens on this drive, you get the sense that this game is going to be won or lost with the KU offense.

0 3rd quarter points — played conservatively on two drives near midfield. Jayhawks are probably going to need (at least) one 2H score to close this out.
5:00pm: The Jayhawks were not successful in stopping the Cyclones, giving up 11 yards on 3rd and 9 from the 2.
4:56pm: Kansas takes the ball out of Jalon Daniels hands on that drive, and end up punting on the ISU 38. The ball was downed inside the 1.
4:49pm: Sevion Morrison, looking to give Kansas a spark, returns the kickoff to the KU 45.
Good start
— AB (@anthonybax12) October 1, 2022
4:44pm: After ISU methodically moved down the field to the Kansas 18, Kenny Logan knocked the ball out of Xavier Hutchinson's hands in the end zone. To say it was big would be an understatement.
That could be a game saving play by Kenny Logan..
— Braiden Turner (@bturner23) October 1, 2022
4:37pm: Jayhawks had something going, but then stalled out at the ISU 45. There were plenty of reactions to the decision to punt:
4th and 3 at the +45, Lance Leipold opts top punt. It's a touchback, so KU gains 25 yards of field position by punting.
— Scott Chasen (@ChasenScott) October 1, 2022
Go for it, Lance.
— Rock Chalk Blog (@RockChalkBlog) October 1, 2022
KU should absolutely go for it.
— Matt Lane (@Matty_KCSN) October 1, 2022
4:33pm: And the second half has started. Sevion Morrison returned the kickoff and only made it to the 21.
4:11pm: It doesn't come back to bite them, as Kansas gets the sack from Craig Young to end the half.
4:10pm: A baffling sequence as Iowa State goes nowhere, but then is able to run down the clock to just 3 seconds.
KU should've called a timeout there. ISU gets a free try at a Hail Mary because the coaches didn't identify what ISU was doing.
— Scott Chasen (@ChasenScott) October 1, 2022
4:06pm: A promising Kansas drive fizzles pretty quickly, ending up in a missed 50-yard field goal.
Didn't agree with this call. Probably should've punted this one and placed 'em deep. #kufball https://t.co/w544QQQitk
— Conner Becker (@ctbecker) October 1, 2022
3:58pm: Talk about weird. Uncharacteristic penalties on Iowa State, but they are saved by a PI on Cobee Bryant. Then the snap was bobbled on the extra point but the holder was able to run it into the end zone.
Mello Dotson turned around looking for a WR to cover — maybe thinking it was a fake. He ended up allowing the 2-point conversion.
— Scott Chasen (@ChasenScott) October 1, 2022
3:49pm: Another week, another rushing TD for Jalon Daniels.
Kansas gets another TD. Lawrence is feeling itself right now.
— Michael Felder (@InTheBleachers) October 1, 2022
3:45pm: Big gain by Quentin Skinner was called back fo an ineligible player downfield, but a review overturned the penalty. Then Matt Campbell did it again:
And it looks like Matt Campbell is taking a timeout to converse with the officials, again. in Lawrence. #kufball
— Conner Becker (@ctbecker) October 1, 2022
3:39pm: Huge series by the defense! A huge tackle for loss, and a pick by Cobee Bryant on 3rd down puts the Jayhawks in the red zone.
3:34pm: Kansas does nothing on that drive. short run, missed pass and then the receiver getting legs tangled with the defender and the Jayhawks have to punt it right back.
3:31pm: Iowa State goes nowhere on their drive, and then a special teams penalty gives Kansas the ball at their own 48.
3:22pm: The ruling stands, and Kansas leads 7-0!
Kansas is actually good. Wow.
— Will (@WillBaizer) October 1, 2022
3:17pm: Pass interference moves the ball down for the Jayhawks, then a pitch to Neal on the option and some strong running by Daniel Hishaw gets the ball into the end zone. But it's under review.
3:14pm: First play of the quarter, Hishaw gets a big gain. Iowa State ended up with the ball, but he was ruled down. Play stands on the review.
Forward progress was stopped but they didn't call that.
— Kent Swanson (@kent_swanson) October 1, 2022
3:07pm: The first quarter is over, and it was a weird one for sure.
So far, Kansas has slipped Jason Bean in at quarterback to run the ball on third-and-long, and the Jayhawks just put both QBs in the backfield, with Jalon Daniels handing the ball off to Bean, who then completed a pass to Luke Grimm. Andy Kotelnicki stays having fun.
— Kevin Flaherty (@KFlahertyKCSN) October 1, 2022
3:02pm: Kansas gets a very weird stop, with an assist from the goal post.
Field goal hits the post and bounces in the end zone...no good.
— JayhawkSlant (@JayhawkSlant) October 1, 2022
KU defense holds. Still tied 0-0 29 seconds left #kufball
3:00pm: Iowa State converts after 3rd and 20 and 4th and 7.
Fantastic grab from ISU's Dimitri Stanley. Earns a first down for the Cyclones at the KU 10. #kufball
— Conner Becker (@ctbecker) October 1, 2022
2:56pm: Fans not happy with the refs. Looked like Kansas might have had a perfect jump but they called offsides.
2:49pm: Holding call on Casey stalls out the drive. Lots of people questioning that one though.
Casey got called for a hold on the end around by Daniels.
— Rock Chalk Podcast (@RockChalkPod) October 1, 2022
Gotta say it looked pretty clean to me. Just had 4 players in a tight space and people fell all over each other.
2:46pm: Big roar from the crowd as Jared Casey hauls in a big catch.
Stop me if you've heard this one... Jared Casey with a big play/catch for #KUfball
— Matt Tait (@mctait) October 1, 2022
2:44pm: Kansas gets a stop with a huge play by Berryhill.
Kansas LB Taiwan Berryhill sacks Dekkers to force a big opening drive stop for KU. #kufball
— Conner Becker (@ctbecker) October 1, 2022
2:39pm: Kansas will kick off to start the game. Plus, some good recruits in the stands for today.
Good group of recruits on hand. Looks like Kasen Weisman (@kasenweisman12) brought a good friend. Jamarion Wilcox (@JamarionWilcox1). #KUfball pic.twitter.com/jMQNAVyNLO
— JayhawkSlant (@JayhawkSlant) October 1, 2022
2:36pm: Audible boos as Iowa State enters the field.
Kansas went with the early 2000s intro feat. Metallica for homecoming. Even featured an old-school ISU helmet. #kufball
— Conner Becker (@ctbecker) October 1, 2022
2:35pm: The Jayhawk Jet is in the air! Kansas is in the tunnel waiting to enter the stadium. It's not as full as last week, but we are at at least 85% capacity.
2:22pm: Band is out on the field for the pregame show. Big roar from the crowd. Stadium is roughly 2/3 full.
2:12pm: The Jayhawks are wearing blue pants, blue jerseys and white helmets.

1:51pm: The crowd is still out enjoying the festivities, but enough have come in to make some serious noise already.

1:26pm: There are a LOT of extra people here to check out this game
Reps for the Cheez-it Bowl and several NFL teams are in the house for #kufball vs ISU.
