LIVE Updates: Oklahoma State Cowboys at Kansas Jayhawks

In this story:

The Kansas Jayhawks take on the Oklahoma State Cowboys in a bid to qualify for a bowl game and against a squad that is expected to be without many important pieces.

I'll be giving updates live from the stadium throughout the game here, so make sure you check back frequently. You can also follow live updates on the Rock Chalk Podcast and Blue Wings Rising Twitter accounts, and join the conversation in our Discord server.

5:52pm: And that officially does it! Kansas wins 37-16, and the fans rush the field again. I can't blame them though, given how important this win is.

5:35pm: It was basically over anyway, but Devin Neal's huge reception seals it. Kansas doesn't get the touchdown, but they kick another field goal to go up 21 again.

5:26pm: The Kansas defense makes it tough for Oklahoma State to drive down the field, pressuring Rangel multiple times. However, the visitors eventually get the ball into the end zone. One more long drive will absolutely be the end.

5:10pm: Kansas moves methodically down the field, with another long Devin Neal run for good measure. They settle for a field goal and take a bunch of time off the clock. Back to a 24 point lead.

5:02pm: Rich Miller picks up a sack and OSU settles for a field goal.

4:57pm: Announced attendance of 43,606, which is really good for a November game.

4:48pm: It was a long methodical drive that took 8 minutes off the clock and included two fourth down conversions for the Jayhawks. And it ended up going to a familiar playmaker.

4:35pm: We are underway again, and once again it is a big pass to Luke Grimm early in the drive that gets it going.

4:14pm: Kansas goes into halftime up by 17. They get the ball to start the 3rd quarter

4:09pm: Beautiful pass from Jason Bean to Lawrence Arnold in the corner of the end zone.

4:07pm: Kansas used their last timeout, but Bean ran for the first down to set up first and goal.

4:02pm: Devin Neal is having himself a game. He's up over 150 all-purpose yards and is gashing the Cowboys in the run game.

3:59pm: OSU got it all the way down into  the red zone, and then Rangel bobbled the snap on 4th and 1. Kansas recovers and the Jayhawks have a chance to extend the lead before half.

3:50pm: 3-and-out for Kansas is not what you want.

3:46pm: It looked like OSU was going to start another long drive, but Jereme Robinson forced a 3-and-out with a great tackle for a loss.

3:41pm: Bean does it himself, running for 73 yards while weaving in and out of a bunch of OSU players to get the score.  Kansas leads by 10 again.

3:35pm: Kansas shot itself in the foot a few times on that drive. Oklahoma State gets out of a couple tight spots and scores to get it back within one score.

3:26pm: End of the first quarter is here, and some good news on the injury front:

3:23pm: Kansas settles for a field goal to go up 10-0. I don't like it, but I guess it is at least points.

3:21pm: Kansas gets to the 1 with some fantastic play calling, then gets stuffed on 3 straight runs, and it is 4th and goal from the 4. But this is a VERY physical game.

3:14pm: Kansas is driving, and has now converted two long 3rd downs on this drive.

3:09pm: Kansas defense comes up big with a stop and gets the ball back at the 25. Still 6 minutes left in the first quarter.

3:07pm: Another Jayhawk down, as Sam Burt is holding his right arm coming off the field. He quickly went into the medical tent.

3:04pm: Kansas has to punt on 4th, and Oklahoma State takes over. But a somewhat good update for Lonnie Phelps:

3:00pm: Kansas is driving, and OSU can't seem to do anything to slow them down. However, the officials call back a spectacular Mason Fairchild catch on an illegal shift penalty.

2:53pm: Rangel throws another interception, this time on a slight overthrow to the left, and Mello Dotson gets another pick for Kansas.

2:51pm: Lonnie Phelps is down on the field with what appears to be a significant injury to his right leg, probably his knee.

2:45pm: Kansas gets the help of a big pass interference penalty, but they drive down thanks to two explosive runs by Devin Neal. He already has 55 rushing yards on just two carries.

2:41pm: Huge interception for Cobee Bryant. Already making an impact.

2:36pm: Kansas kicks off and the crowd is pumped. We are about 2/3 full in the stands.

2:30pm: The Jayhawks take the field, led out by Quentin Skinner and Kenny Logan.

2:13pm: CB Cobee Bryant was announced as a starter, meaning he is officially back. The crown cheered loudly for that announcement. Should see QB in a minute.

2:00pm: Already lots of updates, as reports are coming in about the players that are out for Oklahoma State in this game:

Spencer Sanders isn't the only guy out for Oklahoma State as well:

All of this has led to continued movement on the spread, as the Jayhawks are now 3-point favorites over on SI Sportsbook.
