Tomorrow morning, we are officially one month before the start of the season. While the impending start of preseason camp for the Kansas Jayhawks is the biggest story for Kansas fans, it is far from the only big story to hit the news today.

So let's take a look around the sport and see what big stories we have to keep an eye on in the next few days.

Kansas Fall Camp

Putting aside the oddity of calling a preseason camp in the middle of the summer "Fall Camp", this is a really exciting time for Kansas fans. There was palpable excitement going into camp last season, but that was based entirely on potential. This season, the Jayhawks are returning nearly every major piece from a top 10 offense in efficiency. And the defense is completely rebuilding the front line through the transfer portal. There will be a lot of questions that Kansas fans will want to see answered going into the season, and we'll hit on some of the biggest ones in tomorrow's countdown entry.

The schedule for camp has been set, and we can expect to hear from each member of the staff during media availabilities each day. This week we have the following:

  • August 1: Head Coach Lance Leipold and select players.
  • August 2: Offensive Coordinator Andy Kotelnicki and select players.
  • August 3: Defensive Coordinator Brian Borland and select players.

Next week we can expect to hear from Defensive Backs Coach Jordan Peterson, Defensive Tackles Coach Jim Panagos and Offensive Line Coach Scott Fuchs. Practices will be held August 6th-8th, 11th-14th, 16th-18th and the 23rd.

Pac 12 Rumored Implosion

Now that Colorado has opened the floodgates by rejoining the Big 12 in 2024, there are rumors flying around almost hourly. Of particular note is further action in the Pac 12. Jason Scheer of the Arizona 247Sports site Wildcat Authority has reported that the conference will be presenting a media deal tomorrow morning.

And the Arizona Board of Regents has coincidentally scheduled a meeting for the same day. It at least appears right now that the meeting is not realignment related, but it seems at least possible that this could be a precursor to a final decision.

 Further Realignment

I normally don't dive into rumors like this, but there have been reports floating around that Florida State might be bringing the realignment bus to the ACC.

I'll let you keep your own opinions about Swaim's reports, as they seem to have been inconsistent and too sure in the past, but he isn't the only one speculating about this move. At the very least, it is another possible way to keep realignment in the news and throw the college football world into chaos.

And it doesn't help that some big national reporters are sending cryptic tweets like this one:

No one knows when all of this is going to finally end, but it sounds like we can get huge news at any moment. This will be the last realignment update until someone actually moves as we focus in on the beginning of the year for the Jayhawks.
