David McComb, a 6-foot-3 215-pound three star quarterback from Memorial High School in Edmond, OK, has been committed to Kansas since July 7th, 2023. But as we all know, recruiting is never truly over until a recruit is officially signed. This week, Blue Wings Rising spoke with McComb to get an update on his commitment, the future of his recruitment and his impressions of the Kansas Jayhawks.

When asked what led him to commit to Kansas, McComb pointed to the chemistry with the coaching staff. “I felt my relationship with the coaches was really good. While I was taking my first visit, just going around and seeing campus and the plans they have for the team in the future I just knew I wanted to play there.” McComb further elaborated on what separated Kansas from other schools. “It felt like home, I knew I fit the scheme of the offense the best and my relationship with Coach Z was really strong.”

The athletic quarterback prospect feels like he brings a lot to the table for Kansas on and off the field. “On the field, I believe I am an athletic quarterback who can make all the throws on the field. Off the field, I am a hard worker who is always looking to improve in the classroom, weight room, and film room.” When asked about the status of his recruitment, he said “It’s closed for sure. There is no place I’d rather be going than KU!”

McCombs has not yet scheduled another visit but confirms with Blue Wings Rising that he is looking to schedule a visit this spring. “Yea I’m looking at going up in March/April for a spring practice. I’m trying to schedule it with my parents but also other recruits I wanna see at the practice on the same day.”
