Kansas is used to recruiting players nationally to attempt to get them to campus to participate on the football field at a high level. Many Kansas coaches will recruit in different areas to scout the most talented and underrated prospects across the nation and one of the most recent findings for this Jayhawks staff is Josiah Hammond.

Josiah Hammond is a 2025 prospect from Will Rogers High School. I know what you’re thinking… not Will Rogers as in the quarterback but the actual school name. He is in the state of Oklahoma as he is in Tulsa, Oklahoma as a defensive lineman/edge rusher prospect who measures in at 6-foot-5 and 230 pounds according to 247Sports.

Hammond holds many offers from schools such as Kansas, Washington, North Texas, Tulsa, and more. He is currently unranked and recently received his Kansas Jayhawks offer on February 19th. Following his offer he spoke to Blue Wings Rising about his Jayhawks pitch and offer.

“It was truly an honor and blessing as Kansas has been one of my favorite schools since I was younger,” Hammond stated to Blue Wings Rising. “Coach (Jim) Panagos offered me but I have talked to him and Coach (Brian) Borland also they are great men and I can’t wait to keep building my relationship with them coach P is more energetic and Coach Borland is more laid back but they are both very informative coaches,” said the Oklahoma prospect. “They feel like they can build me into my best version of myself and develop me into the best player possible.”

Talking more about Kansas and what makes the Jayhawks unique he went on to say, “They are an up-and-coming program and have a family-like environment I’ve heard.”

He also had some news to confirm by saying he will be visiting at some point and Kansas is a top school in his recruitment.
