There are many prestigious high schools across the country that are known for producing high-level athletes. One of the prime spots in the nation to produce athletes is the state of Georgia Georgia is high-lined by many schools but as of late the one school that has stood out the most is Buford High School in Buford, Georgia. Kansas has been targeting a few specific Buford High School athletes including Jordan Allen and Kenyon Rivera.

Kenyon Rivera is a class of 2025 three-star linebacker from Buford, who measures 6-foot-1 and 201 pounds. He recently spoke with Blue Wings Rising following his Kansas Jayhawks offer.

“I am very excited to receive this offer from Kansas,” Rivera stated to Blue Wings Rising. “It has really made my day. I feel very grateful and blessed.”

“I spoke with coach (Taiwo) Onatula. He called me when I was at a basketball game supporting our varsity girls in the Sweet 16. We talked about how I was doing and what sports I am currently doing now that it’s the off-season. I think that it was an amazing conversation overall.”

“This staff’s pitch to me is that they have a very physical and aggressive defense which is known as how I love to play.” Said Rivera. “If it ain’t physical and aggressive I don’t want it.”

He talked a little bit about his uncertainty about certain things with Kansas. “At this present time, I’m not exactly sure what makes Kansas unique, but I’m willing to plan a visit to find out. I plan to visit in the spring or summer.”

He talked about Kansas target and current teammate Jordan Allen. “Jordan Allen pushes me with words of encouragement and holds me accountable in everything I do. He is a great leader, it’s always a team effort. We push each other to be better.”

I caught up again with Jordan Allen but this time to talk about Rivera. Allen stated “Big, athletic linebacker who can hit and cover. He is a problem on the field. Makes plays from anywhere. A vocal leader on and off the field.”

Asked where the Jayhawks sit in his recruitment, Rivera noted that “Kansas is most definitely a top option. I’ve always looked up and forward to having a Kansas offer when I was younger.”
