3-Star 2024 RB Tovani Mizell Locks in Official Visit to Kentucky

The tailback will visit Chapel Hill and Lexington in June.

The running back room is not an area that's lacking depth for Kentucky football entering the 2023 season.

That point was affirmed on Tuesday afternoon, when coach Mark Stoops and the Wildcats added another tailback from the portal, as Demie Sumo-Karganbaye is headed to Lexington from NC State, re-joining forces with Kentucky QB Devin Leary.

Sumo-Karganbaye will join forces with Vanderbilt transfer Ray Davis, senior JuTahn McClain, super senior Ramon Jefferson and redshirt sophomore La'Vell Wright. Kentucky also capped off its 2023 high school recruiting class with the addition of 3-star RB Jamarion Wilcox — someone Stoops has labled as a lightning bolt.

The quest to find talented runners never quits on the recruiting trail, however, and UK could have a lead on another 3-star RB, this time in the 2024 class.

Tovani Mizell, a 6-foot-1, 193-pounder out of Western High School in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. confirmed on Twitter on Wednesday that he will be in Lexington the weekend of June 16 for an official visit:

Mizell was originally committed to Georgia, but backed off his decision in March. He is rated as the No. 451 overall player and No. 37 running back in the 2024 class, per the On3 Consensus, but is considered a 4-star recruit by both ESPN and Rivals.

He has taken unofficial visits to Oklahoma, UCF and Florida and will take an official visit to North Carolina the week before heading to Kentucky. Offensive coordinator Liam Coen and new running backs coach Jay Boulware are heading the recruitment for the Wildcats.
