What Junior Tuihalamaka's Arrival Means for LSU's Pass Rush Depth

The LSU Tigers made a late addition to their roster earlier this week by landing a commitment from Notre Dame defensive end Junior Tuihalamaka in the middle of fall camp.

After four years with the Fighting Irish, he arrives to Baton Rouge following a court ruling in Louisiana that granted him another year of eligibility.

Tuihalamaka's presence might not make national headlines during the season but he will be vital toward LSU's quest in getting back to the College Football Playoff.

LSU Has Another Productive Pass Rusher at Its Disposal

Tuihalamaka joins an already-elite group of pass rusher on the LSU defensive line, which features other transfers and some promising freshmen.

LSU's defensive line has five other transfers, including Princewill Umanmielen (Ole Miss), Malik Blocton (Auburn), Jordan Ross (Tennessee), Stephiylan Green (Clemson) and Jaylen Brown (South Carolina).

On top of that, the interior is loaded with a star-studded freshmen trio of Lamar Brown, Deuce Geralds and Richard Anderson, who will be vital in both stopping the run and putting pressure on the quarterback.

You can't ask for much more as an LSU fan.

Junior Tuihalamaka Allows LSU to Deepen Its Rotation

The Tigers already had a slew of talented pass rushers prior to Tuihalamaka's addition. Now, his presence gives the LSU coaching staff even more options to work with while also giving the opposing offense a different number of personnel looks than they might be used to.

It might not matter who ends up starting week in and week out. With a rotation this deep and talented, the Tigers can constantly rotate in fresh bodies without fear of having the production drop off.

This will help LSU in the moment but also bodes well health wise as the team aims for a deep run into the College Football Playoff.

The Underrated Impact of Junior Tuihalamaka

Though Tuihalamaka certainly isn't the most talented player on the LSU defensive line, he brings some invaluable experience that could prove to be big for the freshmen trio of Lamar Brown, Deuce Geralds and Richard Anderson.

With over 50 games of college experience and the only member of the roster who's played in a National Championship, Tuihalamaka brings an invaluable presence to the locker room.

The culture Marcus Freeman has established at Notre Dame can't be overlooked. Tuihalamaka is now bringing that to an LSU team that still might need some time to find its cultural identity in the first year under Kififn.
