Canes Basketball Can't Close It Out, Falling To Boston College 85-77

Miami's Poor Free Throw Shooting and Rebounding Differential Contribute To Their 11th Loss Of The Season

It's been a fall from grace for the Hurricanes, to say the least.

Led by Mason Madsen's 25 points and Quinton Post's 23, Boston College closes out Miami in the final part of the second half to hand the Hurricanes their 11th loss of the season.

After a scoreless performance against Clemson earlier this week, Nijel Pack was ruled out of today's contest with a lower extremity injury as he's "expected to return in the coming weeks".

A big part for Boston College in this game was their rebounding, as they limited Norchad Omier's impact on the glass and won the rebounding battle 37-27.

It was also a differential in foul shooting, as despite being a good free throw shooting team Miami was 10-17 (59%) on the night while Boston College shot 14-19 (74%). Those few extra points Miami missed out on could've been the difference in walking away with a win.

Otherwise, Miami was great offensively tonight efficiency-wise. They finished the game shooting 53% from the field and 50% from three. Matthew Cleveland and Omier were tied for the team lead in points with 20 each. Bensley Joseph also added a solid all-around game, but his turnover woes continues as he added five to his total.

After one of his better games of the season against Clemson, Kyshawn George was a non-factor. He fouled out of the game with zero points and had just one assist in 15 minutes of play.

Up next for the Hurricanes, they'll face one of the top teams in the country in the Duke Blue Devils as they'll travel down to the Watsco Center for a big time game for Miami Wednesday night at 7:00 PM on ESPN.
