Hurricanes' Star Big Earns All-ACC Second Team Honors

Norchad Omier Averaged 17.0 PPG and 9.9 RPG While Leading The ACC With 16 Double-Doubles

In a season that hasn't gone Miami's way, they received some positive news today regarding one of their top players.

Per an ACC release, Hurricanes' star big Norchad Omier has been selected to the All-ACC Second Team. Omier was a third team selection last season and took a jump this season with an improved role.

As the focal point of Miami's offense, Omier average 17.0 PPG (up 3.9 PPG from the previous season) and 9.9 RPG while leading the conference in double-doubles with 16.

The only other Hurricane to receive any sort of recognition was freshman Kyshawn George earning one vote for ACC Rookie of the Year.

The rest of the ACC teams are as follows:

All-ACC First Team

RJ Davis, North Carolina

PJ Hall, Clemson

Kyle Filipowksi, Duke

Hunter Sallis, Wake Forest

Blake Hinson, Pittsburgh

All-ACC Second Team

Armando Bacot, North Carolina

Reece Beekman, Virginia

Judah Mintz, Syracuse

Norchad Omier, Miami

Quinten Post, Boston College

All-ACC Third Team

DJ Horne, NC State

Harrison Ingram, North Carolina

Jeremy Roach, Duke

Markus Burton, Notre Dame

Sean Pedulla, Virginia Tech

Carolina's Davis earned ACC Player of the Year honors to no surprise, as one of his highlights of the season came against Miami when he had a career and venue high 42 points.

Looking forward to when Omier will next be in action, you can watch him and the rest of the Hurricanes tomorrow as they'll take on Boston College in the first round of the ACC Tournament. The game will be on ACC Network at 7:00 PM. The winner is slated to play Clemson on Wednesday.

Omier's future remains up in the air whether or not he'll exercise his final year of eligibility and or return to Miami.
