Miami's Late Rally Comes Up Short, Dropping Their Sixth Straight To Georgia Tech 80-76

Miles Kelly Dominates For The Yellow Jackets As Miami's Season Drifts Away As They'll Face North Carolina Monday

Just when you thought Miami's season couldn't get any worse, the Hurricanes add another loss to their now six straight as they fall to Georgia Tech 80-76.

Both teams were on fire in the first half, shooting lights out from behind the arc. However Miami couldn't keep it up in the second half, as the Yellow Jackets walked out of the Watsco Center with a win Saturday evening.

The Hurricanes brought it to within two late, but Georgia Tech's Kyle Sturdivant iced the game with a pair of three throws in the final seconds.

Leading the way for the Yellow Jackets was junior guard Miles Kelly, who had one of his more efficient games with 25 points and shooting 60% from the field. Kelly knocked down seven threes with Georgia Tech having 15 threes in the game overall.

For Miami, it was Kyshawn George who led the way for Miami despite scoring all of his 16 points in the first half. George also contributed a lot defensively, finishing with a block and four steals on the game. Bensley Joseph also added 16 as he's been solid offensively filling in for Nijel Pack.

Late down the stretch, Miami opted to take Norchad Omier out of the game as Jim Larrañaga mentioned it was due to Miami struggling to switch on defense. That move definitely worked, as Miami went on a run during that stretch to shrink Georgia Tech's lead to two. Omier finished with just seven points and six rebounds on the game in one of his worst games of the season.

Now with their losing streak up to six games, Miami will travel to Chapel Hill for a game on Monday against the Tar Heels. A short turn around for the Hurricanes, it doesn't play well in them trying to put an end to this streak against one of the best teams in the country.
