Speed kills.

The Miami Hurricanes defeated the Indiana Hoosiers in convincing fashion Sunday night, winning 85-69.

The key was the far superior effort and speed of the Canes. even with one of IU's all-time greats having another quality game, Trayce Jackson-Davis was not enough. He finished with 23 points, 8 rebounds and 5 blocks.

Miami's all-around speed hindered many of the other Hoosiers, however, as the guards for the Canes were much, much better this evening.

For the game, the combination of Jordan Miller, Isaiah Wong, and Nijel Pack went a combined 23 of 45 from the floor. Their collective shooting was a big difference.

With just under 14 minutes to play, it appeared that Miami was about to blow a previous lead of 13 points that it held in the first half.

Yes, Miami trounced the Indiana team down the stretch. Over the final 13:43, Miami was an offensive and defensive machine. The 38-22 advantage over that final portion of the game was once again about speed.

For the game, Wong finished with 27 points to lead all scorers. Miller dropped 18 on the Hoosiers, while Pack added 12. The interior play was also key for the Canes.

Loose balls went Miami's way. Better open-court dribbling and one-on-one plays that got the ball into the lane. Then there was Norchad Omier's ability to keep the basketball alive, rebound with TJD and give Miami shooters a chance to make key plays.

For the next challenge, Miami will play Midwest Region #1 seed Houston. That will be the most difficult challenge for the Hurricanes this season.
