Sometimes, the numbers tell an incredible tale.

With Miami defeating Texas 88-81 to head to the Final Four, there were some phenomenal statistics to talk about.

* First off, let’s talk about what Miami’s Jordan Miller accomplished. 13 for 13 from the line, including 6 makes down the stretch when it was crucial that he made his shots from the foul line.

* Oh yeah, Miller was 7 for 7 from the field as well. Does anyone remember a perfect shooting game? 20 out of 20 was one of the best offensive performances anyone will ever accomplish.

Miller was not alone with his shooting touch, however.

* Miami shot 59.2% from the floor, including making 5 of 7 (71.4%) during the comeback from the 9 minute mark down to the 5 minute mark. That’s when the momentum completely shifted.

When Isaiah Wong hit back-to-back jump shots to bring the score to 72-68, it was clear that Texas was out of rhythm and the Canes were starting to roll.

* Once inside of five minutes, there was a different kind of excellent shooting for the Canes. 13 of 14 from the line to close out the contest, which was the end of the road for the Longhorns.

* The Longhorns were on fire for much of the contest. Of that there was no doubt. However, Miami’s “D” came alive during the final 10 minutes.

With Texas leading 67-58 and 10:01 on the clock, the Canes defense dug in. Check out these statistics: Just 14 points for Texas during the final 10 minutes, and the Longhorns were only 5 for 15 from the floor for 33%.

Players like Nijel Pack, Wong, Miller and anyone that could, got a hand up on Texas shooters down the stretch. That's team basketball.

It was also incredible considering just how hot the Longhorns were heading into halftime as they had been good with 3-point shooting, and overall were at 54.8%.

* Texas also handled the basketball well for most of the game and ended with 14 turnovers. The last two were the ones that mattered the most though.

In crunch time, that’s when the Miami defense came alive. With 2:05 to play, Texas forward Timmy Allen turned it over.

Then, with 45 seconds to play, Norchad Omier made the pivotal steal in the lane. That was an awesome defensive play and it helped the Canes get the victory and head to Houston for the Final Four.

* Also, by halftime Texas had already reached an incredible 14 assists. Well done. The second half was different as the Horns only accounted for 6 more assists. That was a tremendous defensive effort during the final 20 minutes, especially the final 10.

* Finally, Miami won despite hitting only 2 of 8 from behind the arc. Instead of hitting 3-point shots, the patient Hurricanes kept taking the ball to the hoop and it led to a bunch of fouls and made free throws.

Miami finished the contest by making 28 of 32 shots from the line, 87.5%.

All Hurricanes will have a bevy of statistical notes about the Canes themselves, as well as getting to know numerous stats about the Connecticut Huskies, throughout the week.
