In this story:
The College Football Hall of Fame could be adding one or more former Miami Hurricanes.
On this year’s ballot, defensive lineman Jerome Brown (1983-1986), linebacker Darrin Smith (1989-1992), quarterback Ken Dorsey (1999-2002), and former offensive coordinator and head coach Larry Coker (1995-2006).

Brown was one of college football’s most disruptive defensive lineman, and he was later drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles with the No. 9 pick in the 1987 Draft. He was tragically killed in a car crash in
Smith was the prototypical Miami linebacker, speed over size, and the instincts to make plays that other linebackers didn’t make either. He was a part of Miami’s 1989 and 1991 national title teams before embarking on a long NFL career with teams like the Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles and the New Orleans Saints.
Dorsey had a moxie to him that was all but undefinable. He made clutch plays look easy, like hitting a receiver in stride despite having a big defensive lineman coming right at him prior to throwing the football. He was the starting quarterback for the Canes during the 2001 season, too. The two-time Heisman finalist had a NFL playing career and he’s also now the offensive coordinator of the Buffalo Bills.
Coker was the head coach of the Canes during the famous 2001 season in which the Canes were unquestionably the most dominant team in the country. He was a fun-loving personality that loved his players and did a great job of getting them to gel.
