Throughout the storied football career of defensive end Calais Campbell, he’s been one of the biggest bruisers on the gridiron and also one of the most hospitable off of it.

According to Ian Rapoport of ESPN, the former Walter Payton Man of the Year Award winner and free agent will head to Atlanta and play for the Falcons.

As noted in the above tweet, Campbell’s kind heart helped Atlanta owner Arthur Blank decide to sign him. Campbell has been a humanitarian for much of his adult life, as noted on his own website calaiscampbell.com:

“The CRC Foundation is committed to making the world a better place by developing our community to reach its full potential through mentorship, education and providing resources.”

In today’s video-forward world where shocking news breaks for any random person’s cell phone, owners like Blank want excellent football players – which the future Hall of Famer has proven to be with 99 sacks and 809 tackles during his career – that also represent their communities when not playing.

The former Miami Hurricane has been a tremendous example of that, as he’s gone to six pro bowls and was a part of the NFL’s all-2010s team, and he’s been known as a gracious man off the field, too.

Prior to his move to Atlanta, the 6-foot-8 and 305-pound defensive lineman has been in the NFL with the Arizona Cardinals (2008-2016), Jacksonville Jaguars (2017-2019), and the Baltimore Ravens (2020-2022).
