Dawson, Guidry Address Depth Chart And Rising Stars After First Week Of Camp

In this story:
After a 5-7 season in Mario Cristobal's first season as head coach, it was obvious that some changes would be made to the coaching staff going into the next season.
Two of those many changes included bringing on both Shannon Dawson and Lance Guidry to fill in the offensive and defensive coordinator position respectively.
On Saturday morning, both coordinators got the chance to address the media and share some updates and thoughts on the team after the first week of camp.
Takeaway #1: Rueben Bain Will Contribute As A True Freshman
Rueben Bain appears to be using the doubters as motivation to continue to impress as he now begins his collegiate career at the University of Miami.
Despite through the roof production throughout his high school career, Bain was never ranked as a five-star recruit despite producing like one.
However, he was able to give Miami Hurricanes fans a taste of what's to come during the spring game where he put on a clinic on getting to the quarterback.
It looks as if that wasn't just a blip on the radar, as coach Guidry mentioned that Bain has been impressive both against the pass and the run. He elaborated on the fact that the true freshman will see time this year and has a chance to even start.
Takeaway #2: Emory Williams Continues To Receive Praise
Bain isn't the only recruit from the 2023 recruiting cycle playing above his recruiting ranking, as Emory Williams continues to shine and receive praise all around the facility.
As seen in the post above, Williams capped off Saturday's practice with a nice deep ball to Frank Ladson Jr..
Not only is Williams passing the eye test with just his feel around the football, but is showing that he can make plays like these.
While still a true freshman with a lot of room for growth, Williams' rapid progression is making the recruiting loss of Jaden Rashada look like an afterthought.
Takeaway #3: The Wide Receiver Snaps Remain Wide Open
There's no denying that Charleston Rambo played a huge role in helping Tyler Van Dyke emerge as one of the best quarterbacks in the ACC in 2021.
However, Miami didn't have Rambo in 2022 nor did they have a player step in and replace the production.
Now heading into the 2023 season, the wide receiver room has a lot of depth but it doesn't seem as if anyone has broken out as the clear number one option yet (Colbie Young and Xavier Restrepo are obvious possibilities) .
Coach Dawson will be able to tap into a lot of options, however, whether it be exploring playing Elijah Arroyo and Jaleel Skinner on the outside, or playing with more slot personnel receivers to try and play in space.
Regardless, it's clear that the competition will be on going and constantly changing in the receiver room.
