Miami is hiring a new running backs coach

The Miami Hurricanes have important news from the gridiron.

The Canes will be bringing on a new running backs coach. One that's even from inside the state of Florida. It's USF running backs coach Matt Merritt

A former running back himself at Division III Capital University in Columbus, Ohio, Merritt comes to the University of Miami after stints at several schools.

Merritt's career path includes Capital as a graduate assistant (2010), St. Charles Prep as running backs coach and special teams coordinator (2011-12), Ohio State as a running backs coach graduate assistant (2013-2015), Old Dominican as running backs coach and special teams coordinator (2016), Elon as running backs coach and special teams coordinator (2017-18), James Madison as running backs coach (2019-20), Tennessee as an offensive analyst (2021), Georgia Southern as running backs coach (2022), and most recently at USF as associate head coach and run game coordinator (2023).

Coming soon, look for more information about Merritt regarding coaches he's worked for and his recruiting background from AllHurricanes and Locked On Canes with Alex Donno.

Can Miami Hoops Flip Their Season Around And Slow Down UNC's RJ Davis?

After its poor performance at Virginia, Miami is hosting No. 3 North Carolina this Saturday. If there's any chance the Hurricanes can reach the NCAA Tournament, a victory over the Tar Heels is a must.

Senior guard RJ Davis leads UNC. The North Carolina athletic website has him averaging 21.3 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game. He's also connecting on 41.2% of his three-point shots and is a clutch performer.

Davis scored 17 in UNC's win over Duke and 22 against Clemson despite the 80 to 76 loss to the Tigers.

After losing, North Carolina will likely come to the Watsco Center motivated and focused. Davis will be the ringleader for them and it's going to take a collective effort for the Canes to corral him and get a win.
