Miami Hurricanes Are The Likely Landing Spot For Tulane Grad Transfer Safety Andre Sam

In this story:
Tulane safety Andre Sam entered the portal this week as a graduate transfer. The Miami Hurricanes appear to be his likely destination.
Sam began his college football career at McNeese State, where he played under then-head coach Lance Guidry. In 2022 he transferred to Marshall, where Guidry was defensive coordinator.
After the 2022 season at Marshall, he followed Guidry to Tulane. Guidry quickly left Tulane to fill Miami's defensive coordinator job, and now Sam is on the move again.
You don't have to be Sherlock Holmes to see the pattern here.
Chris Hummer from 247 Sports has logged a crystal ball prediction for Sam to join the Canes.
Sam is entering his sixth year. His overall experience would be valuable. His knowledge of Guidry's defense could help ease the transition for his teammates into the new defensive scheme.
He stands 6-1 and weighs in at 180 pounds. In 2022, he recorded 53 tackles, 5.5 TFL and an interception for the Thundering Herd. He recorded a season-high 10 total tackles in Tulane's upset victory over Notre Dame.
He likely would not take a starting job away from Kam Kinchens or James Williams, but Sam could provide quality depth at a position group that needs it.
High school football and recruiting expert Larry Blustein joined me on Locked On Canes for a scouting report.
"This is a guy who has played some high level football in the past. He's a rangy guy who will hit you. He's got good coverage skills. He's loose in the hips which helps out. His ability to separate the receiver from the ball is something he's already made a trademark of.
"I talked to a couple people at Marshall about him and they loved his intensity to the game and what he brought there. Having him would be such a plus for Coach Guidry because he would know that he has somebody who could help the younger guys. Andre would come in ready to go. He knows what Guidry expects and what this defense is all about."
"I think he's one of those guys who will end up at Miami," Blustein predicted.
