Miami Gearing Up For Pro Day Next Wednesday

After some notable Hurricanes missed the combine, they will get their chance to showcase their skills and abilities on Greentree at the Pro Day.

Cornerback Tyrique Stevenson and tight end Will Mallory were the only two Miami Hurricanes to receive an invitation to the NFL Combine.

Stevenson and Mallory put together solid performances at the Combine. Mallory ran the fastest 40-yard dash for a tight end with a 4.54. Stevenson ran a 4.45 40-yard dash, which was tied for ninth.

On Wednesday, Mar. 30, Miami will hold its Pro Day which will feature 12 Hurricanes. Here is a breakdown by position:

QB: N/A

RB: Lucious Stanley, Devon Perry

WR: N/A

TE: Will Mallory

OL: Justice Oluwaseun, DJ Scaife

P: Lou Hedley

K: N/A

DL: Antonio Moultrie, Mitchell Agude,

LB: Caleb Johnson, Waynmon Steed,

Secondary: Tyrique Stevenson, DJ Ivey

There is a nice variety of Canes participating in the Pro Day. Athletes from the offense to the specialists are represented.

Stevenson projects to be the first Hurricane off the board in the 2023 NFL Draft, and it will be unlikely for anyone at the Pro Day to surpass him because he's receiving late first-round to high second-round grades.

Ivey is an intriguing prospect from his physicality and size alone as a CB. A solid performance at the Pro Day could move Ivey into a late-round projection, but as it stands, he is projected to be an undrafted free agent.

Johnson and Steed are seasoned college veterans that could end up on a roster, but like Ivey, it will likely be as a UDFA signing.

Hedley, after an impressive career at Miami, could be a draft pick. After all, good specialists are at a premium, but there's a time to draft them. While most are UDFA signings, Hedley has the talent of a punter that could be one of those late picks in the seventh round.

Stanley, who transferred to Miami from Alabama-Birmingham (UAB) at the beginning of the year, was used sparingly throughout his six-year career. Perry, a walk-on, was also used sparingly in end-of-game situations. Neither have a serious chance of being drafted, but a solid Pro Day could help them get jobs on practice squads or in the CFL or XFL.

Oluwaseun, could also be one of those guys, along with Antonio Moultrie

Two Hurricanes that could boost their draft stock

Mitchell Agude

Agude played on a defensive line that rotated often. Yet, he still finished third on the team in sacks with four. He trailed talented sophomores Jahfari Harvey (5.5) and Akheem Mesidor (7) in that category.

Agude is quick off the edge and he carries his weight well. He didn't have a breakout season, but he has intriguing intanginbles as a prospect and if he does well enough during the Pro Day, he's one Cane that could certainly move up on teams' boards.

DJ Scaife

Scaife took a lot of flak during his Miami career. He wasn't the most consistent, but he also wasn't a liability. Scaife has played virtually every spot on the offensive line short of center.

Scaife is a versatile college offensive lineman that projects as a true guard at the NFL level. Should Scaife have been at tackle at points? Maybe not, but he is certainly one of the more knowledgable linemen Miami had and it could transition to the NFL, should he "wow" scouts at the Pro Day and get drafted in April.
