Will Miami knock off Rutgers in the Pinstripe Bowl?

The Bad Boy Mowers Pinstripe Bowl kickoff is closing in. The Miami Hurricanes are taking on the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. Here are the predictions from the AllHurricanes staff members.

Brian Smith, Publisher - Miami 27 Rutgers 17

While the weather forecast could cause issues (wind and rain can lead to turnovers for either team), Miami has more talent than Rutgers. At the end of the day, that point needs to be realized.

Jaccuri Brown's performance doe not need to be incredible. It does, however, need to be consistent and all but mistake-free. This is his big opportunity but the talent around him should carry the load. Additionally, look for him to hit a couple of shot plays with Xavier Restrpo being a prime target. The rushing attack will help make that happen.

The passing game is going to open up because running backs Mark Fletcher, Jr. and Henry Parrish, Jr. will combine for over 100 yards on the ground, and the Hurricanes will also use Brown's running ability to create problems for Rutgers.

Defensively, the Canes will apply plenty of pressure to opposing quarterback Gavin Wimsatt. Look for him to struggle to consistently throw the football and middle linebacker Francisco Mauigoa to be in the backfield quite often. Miami will build an early lead off the efforts of its balanced offensive attack and will go back to Coral Gables with a victory.

Alex Donno, Writer and Podcaster - Miami 20 - Rutgers 16

Miami has the talent to win this game, especially at the line of scrimmage. The reason I am expecting a low-scoring affair is due to both teams bringing in strong defenses. Rutgers struggled to score points during their regular season, while Miami will be starting a quarterback who hasn't taken a snap since 2022.

With that said, this will be a big opportunity for Jacurri Brown to showcase his talents. I was told earlier this week that OC Shannon Dawson specifically tailored the offense to Brown during bowl practices. He won't be running the same offense that Emory Williams and Tyler Van Dyke ran.

Miami will have their top two wideouts on the field in Xavier Restrepo and Jacolby George. You can expect players like Isaiah Horton and Nathaniel "Ray Ray" Joseph to get on the field a lot, too.

Miami's front 7, led by players like Branson Deen and Rueben Bain on the defensive line with Kiko Mauigoa and Wesley Bissainthe leading the linebackers, will apply pressure to Rutgers quarterback Gavin Wimsatt.

Liam Willerup, Writer - Rutgers 27 Miami 23

When it comes down to determining this game in my opinion, it's all about what Jacurri Brown is able to do out on the field. He's yet to see a snap at all this season, so it's a mystery as to how far he's progressed this season.

Nevertheless, he'll have two of the top wideouts in the conference in Xavier Restrepo and Jacolby George to throw to which should help his case.

In terms of difference makers for the Scarlet Knights, Kyle Monangai is one the defense will have to zone in on. Finishing the season with over 1,100 yards from scrimmage, Miami will need a lot from who's left on defense to keep him in check.

At the end of the day, I view Miami's holes at safety and hits to the offensive line as a significant problem and think Rutgers is able to squeeze out a close win in the Pinstripe Bowl.
