Resiliency is something few people have more of than Miami's starting tight end.

A player who's been through season-ending injuries, plus quite a few more that caused him to miss practices and games, there are questions about what this young man brings to the Canes during his ninth and final season of college football.

Cam McCormick arrived in Eugene, Ore. to play for the Oregon Ducks in 2016. In three of his first four seasons, he did not play much if at all. 2016 would be a redshirt year; a traditional one. 2017 includes playing in 13 games, including two starts, with 6 receptions. Then the injuries began.

McCormick had a severe leg injury in the 2018 game against Bowling Green and missed the rest of the season. 2019 saw him lose the entire year due to another serious injury. 2020 would be no better and another season lost to injury.

McCormick battles no matter what's happened. Beginning in 2021, playing in two games and catching 1 pass for 16 yards, then yet another season-ending injury.

That's four consecutive years McCormick missed all or most of a season due to injury.

Now a Miami tight end, McCormick is in his ninth season and he's coming off a 2023 campaign with 13 games played, 8 receptions, and 62 yards. He's certainly more than earning his opportunity to play the game of football.

So what does that mean? How does he not only use his experience for himself but also help prepare other Canes for the grind of practice and games? Here's what McCormick said on his X page about that subject before an interview with national media member Michelle Auerbach.

"When the fans go home and all the background noise falls silent, it’s just me and the men I fight alongside week after week for the U!"

It's not a long audio clip and Canes fans and college football fans alike should listen. The resiliency of McCormick is incredible.

Miami is going to benefit from having McCormick as an experienced tight end, as well as in the locker room, and on the practice fields.
