There’s going to be a lot of excitement around recruiting for each of the Power 5 football programs in the state of Florida.

All of the Power 5 programs in Florida have lined up a bunch of official visits for June. There’s been some grumbling among fans for the Gators, Seminoles, Hurricanes and Knights about not enough prospects committing yet. Here’s some advice.

It’s going to be okay. What follows below will be proof for why that’s the case.

It’s only one weekend of official visits without a commitment from any of UF, FSU, UM and UCF. It’s honestly not all that unusual, as the facts below will indicate. Here’s the basis of why, first.

Recruits will often take several official visits before coming to a decision. That’s just how it works and there’s no definitive guarantee for many of these young men suddenly making a decision and canceling the rest of their official visits.

With all four of the Gators, Seminoles, Canes and Knights having another big weekend of visitors during the June 9 weekend, the chances of commitments will increase. It will increase the weekend after that as well.

Let’s use Miami’s 2022 recruiting efforts as an example.

Last year there were a litany of commitments for Miami that began on June 14 and ending July 12. Mario Cristobal and the Canes added nine prospects to the class during that time. Here were the specific Miami commitments from that time period:

Jackson Carver, Tight End, Windsor (Conn.) The Loomis Chaffee School - June 14

Emory Williams, Quarterback, Milton (Fla.) High School - June 20

Nathaniel “Ray Ray” Joseph, Slot Receiver, Miami (Fla.) Edison - June 28

Robert Stafford, Cornerback, Melbourne (Fla.) Eau Gallie - June 30

Riley Williams, Tight End, Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy - July 1

Antoine Jackson, Cornerback, Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Dillard - July 2

Francis Mauigoa, Offensive Line, Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy - July 4

Jayden Wayne, Defensive End, Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy - July 9

Raul Aguirre, Linebacker, Fayetteville (Ga.) Whitewater - July 12

Further, from June 1 through June 13, the Hurricanes did not land a single commitment. Many college football teams fell into a similar category. Therefore, what happened to Miami in 2022, there’s some reason to believe that it will be the case for Florida, FSU, UCF and Miami once again this year.

Give it some time. The commitments will come. It’s important until that time to keep up with the prime recruits that all of these schools have been bringing in for official visits.

Eventually, the commitment articles will follow.
