Miami ‘Checked All the Boxes’ for New QB Commitment Judd Anderson

Miami lands 6-foot-6 quarterback prospect from the state of Georgia

The first visit to Miami wound up being the last visit as an uncommitted recruit for Judd Anderson

The 6-foot-6 Gray (Ga.) Jones County quarterback prospect was able to spend Thursday in Coral Gables and after sleeping on it, he decided to go public with a verbal commitment to the University of Miami on Friday evening.

Anderson announced the news via social media, but spoke to All Hurricanes to break down the decision prior to his official announcement.

“They checked all the boxes for me!” he said. “I went into the visit with high expectations and I knew from the jump it was going to be great. The staff there made me feel at home from the jump and the way they talked and getting watch them coach. It was just an amazing experience and it really put it over the top for me!”

Anderson delivered the news to Mario Cristobal, Shannon Dawson and company before departing Coral Gables for good.

“I was in coach Cristobal’s office near the end of the visit and told him this is where I wanted to be and that Miami feels like home,” he said. “They were shocked, they thought I would take a day or two to think about it but me doing it then and there really shocked them and it was great to see!”

The first pledge under Dawson, the new Miami offensive coordinator, and first quarterback verbal commitment since Jaden Rashada last summer — Anderson was able to get a true feel for how the new Miami offense will operate while at practice.

Anderson, who visited The U with multiple family members, sat down with Dawson one-on-one for more on his future role at the sport’s most important position and much more.

“I loved watching practice and the new offense!” He said. ”Coach Dawson and Coach Cristobal are doing an amazing job putting in this air raid offense and it’s something you look at and makes you want to play in it. That whole staff is awesome and those players talked to me…

“We watched some film of practice and we really just sat down and talked football. He spoke with me and my family then. We just really got to know each other even more and have some deep conversations about what Miami has to offer.”

Before the commitment, the battery of coaches made a final pitch to Anderson to become the early face of the program’s class of 2024.

“Coach Dawson and Coach Cristobal really just pitched what Miami was and how I would look in this new offense,” he said.

As a junior in 2022, Anderson led both the Jones County football team and basketball team to the state playoffs, with the hoops team making it all the way to the Final Four on the day Dawson offered Anderson at Miami. He is the second verbal commitment for the program in the cycle, joining Louisiana kicker Abram Murray from Shreveport (La.) C.E. Byrd.

All Hurricanes recently scouted Anderson after he became a top target in what figures to potentially be multi-QB recruiting class for Miami. Here is what fans of The U should expect.
