Top Miami QB Recruit Decommits from TCU

In this story:
College football recruiting has once again shown that things can change in a heartbeat.
Top quarterback Marcos Davila made a pledge to national runner up TCU back on Dec. 23, 2022. On Wednesday, Davila made a public announcement that he was backing off of that decision.
I want to thank @CoachSonnyDykes, @CoachGRiley and @MTommerdahl for recruiting me at TCU. College football changes fast and relationships matter so I feel it’s best for me to re-open my recruitment.

At the point that the 6-foot-3 and 205-pound signal caller had decided to announce for TCU, Davila had received offers from many programs. That list included Houston, Texas Tech, Baylor, Arizona, Louisiana Tech, Kansas, West Virginia, Mississippi State, Colorado, and North Carolina State among others.
Since January, Davila has earned three more offers – Texas A&M, Purdue, and Miami – with the last one having held a unique circumstance.
Miami offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson offered Davila while he was working on the Houston staff as the quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator. Thus, Davila has certainly been familiar with Dawson and his Air Raid Offense.
While there’s no definitive college football program that the Midland (Texas) Lee gunslinger will eventually call home, it should still be considered a good sign for Miami that he backed off his original commitment to TCU two days after being offered by head coach Mario Cristobal, Dawson, and the Canes.
Super blessed to receive an offer from THE U 🙌🏽 @CoachDawson_UH @coach_cristobal @CoachDanny10 @BenjaminRivals @GabyUrrutia247 @CoachMurch324 @Hartman3Clint pic.twitter.com/O9P8vXdeJc

There’s a long way to go with Divila’s recruitment. That stated, quarterback recruiting usually resolved itself for the vast majority of top-tier Power 5 programs by mid-summer, based on the last 10-20 years of college recruiting. He will likely start to narrow his list of suitors sooner than later, and that begins with seeing colleges firsthand.
It will be interesting to see where Davila takes unofficial visits during the spring prior to taking official visits this summer. Keep an eye on Davila, as the talented quarterback could be a player to watch with Miami moving forward.
