Breaking Down Top Miami Hurricanes Football Recruiting Visitors David Stone & LJ McCray

In this story:
The Miami Hurricanes are looking to build some serious recruiting momentum for the class of 2024. At the moment, they only have a verbal pledge from placekicker Abram Murray.
Several four and five star prospects have checked out The U for unofficial visits over the past few weeks.
This weekend, the headliners hailed from the trenches: 5-star defensive lineman David Stone (IMG Academy) and 4-star defensive lineman LJ McCray (Mainland Daytona Beach.)
I sat down with recruiting guru Larry Blustein from 560 WQAM in Miami to break down these players.
On David Stone
Larry watched Stone up close at Rivals Camp just a week ago and came away thoroughly impressed. "He's everything as advertised," Blustein said. "I'd watched him a bunch of times on film but had never gotten a chance to watch him up close." Blu noted to me that film and highlights can lie. "He wasn't that case. Big kid, very agile, outstanding athlete and really friendly." There's no substitute for evaluating a player in person.
Larry will soon be releasing his 2024 rankings for all prospects in the state of Florida. He told me he is going to rank Stone number two overall, behind only Chaminade WR Jeremiah Smith.
Stone is listed at 6-4, 270 lbs on 247 Sports.
Miami is currently trending nicely for Stone. He took a solo visit on the weekend of 25th and returned just a week later with his family. I have been told Miami is expecting him back in the summer for an official visit. Defensive line coaches Jason Taylor and Joe Salave'a and head coach Mario Cristobal have been heavily involved in his recruitment.
Michigan State and Oklahoma are the other schools that I hear the most buzz for. Stone is from Oklahoma, so I won't completely count out the Sooners any time soon.
On LJ McCray
Unlike Stone, Miami isn't trending strongly for McCray at this moment. Perhaps that sentiment could change after this visit, but Florida appears to be the leader in the clubhouse with FSU next in line.
He's listed at 6-6, 260 lbs.
"He gotten massive over the last couple years," Larry said. "I watched him in the state championship game down here last year against Lake Whales. He's a good kid with a great football background."
McCray's father coached at Bethune-Cookman University for a number of years and that's why the family settled in Daytona.
"He would be a great get," Larry added. "He was a tight end last year as well (in addition to DL), but grew a little too big to play tight end. But he's agile."
Larry referred to McCray as a "Leonard Taylor type" of prospect.
