Miami Hurricanes National Signing Day and Transfer Portal Recap
The first full recruiting class for Mario Cristobal as the leader of the Miami Hurricanes went very well.
Here’s a recap of the overall recruiting class, as well as notes about the Transfer Portal additions that Miami officially announced today as well.
The 2023 Recruiting Class
Miami did not add any high school players on the second National Signing Day. The class remained at 25 players in all. Each individual Hurricanes recruit is broken down here: 2023 Miami recruiting class.
To say that Cristobal and his staff put together a top class would be an understatement. From quarterback Emory Williams to all the way through to an elite defensive back class, each position saw the Hurricanes add big-time talent. From a rankings perspective, here’s where the Hurricanes came in at.
From the final 247 composite rankings, offensive linemen Francis Mauigoa and Samson Okunlola came in at No. 10 and No. 23 nationally. Defensive ends Rueben Bain and Jayden Wayne were ranked No. 63 and No. 81 respectively as well.
As a class, 247 ranked Miami No. 7 overall. On3 ranked the Hurricanes slightly higher by being ranked the sixth best class in the country.
Impact Recruits
Where to begin? Again, this class had talent from every position. Because of Miami’s needs along the offensive line and in the secondary, there should be a few true freshmen that see action this next fall.
At least one of Mauigoa and Okunlola could see game action or even start at some point. At cornerback, Miami needs numbers and impact players, and with Robert Stafford, Damari Brown and Antione Jackson all coming to Coral Gables, expect at least a couple of them to see playing time.
Do not forget about the offensive backfield either. Miami signed a burner with Chris Johnson and a big back in Mark Fletcher. There’s certainly an opportunity for one or both to see early playing time.
Was it a complete class though? There could always be more. Here’s what Alex Donno and John Garcia, Jr. had to say about Miami’s recruiting class.
To that end, there were players that signed elsewhere. Here’s an overview of their final college choices.
