Miami Running Back Recruit Discusses His Recent Offer From The Canes

A Louisiana recruit is excited about an offer from Miami

The Miami Hurricanes are once again using their connections in the Bayou State.

Defensive back Dylan Day and kicker Abram Murray are both in Miami's 2024 recruiting class, Day from Baton Rouge (La.) Southern Lab and Murray from Shreveport (La.) C.E. Byrd. According to 247, Miami is looking to more Louisiana talent with 11 offers already out to 2025 recruits. One of them is a running back from the Big Easy.

New Orleans (La.) Archbishop Shaw running back Jasper Parker added another prestigious offer with Miami being the latest big-time program to want him on their roster. He has scholarships from Auburn, Alabama, Ole Miss, Oregon, and USC to name a few.

The 6-foot-200-pound running back is fun to watch on film spoke with AllHurricanes on his offer from Miami and what his plans are moving forward.

"I'm excited about the Miami offer," Parker began. "Coach (Dennis) Smith offered me and he acknowledged my size and film for the most part as well as being coachable. He also mentioned how good he felt to be in the position he is in because he was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana."

With the offer coming from Smith, the two relate on many levels. However, Miami will have to work on getting a visit scheduled with Parker this spring.

"I haven't planned a visit to Miami. I am going to look in Miami's spring schedule and hopefully make it one of my destinations this spring."

Parker already has some spring visits scheduled elsewhere.

"I've scheduled dates to visit schools including USC, OSU, Georgia Tech, and deciding on a few more with Miami being the University that jumps on the list immediately."

The Archbishop Shaw running back does not appear to be ready to decide soon.

"I wouldn't say I have any favorites at this time. I've developed relationships with multiple coaching staffs and still developing relationships with coaching staffs."

The Hurricanes don't have much time left to get the Louisiana running back on campus and make up some ground.

"I don't currently have a set timeline, but I do want to commit to a school going into my senior season."

Miami's coaching staff, with Smith leading the recruiting charge, being relatable to Parker could benefit them. Next up is getting him on campus for a spring practice. That task is crucial for the Canes as they have a chance to give Parker a great unofficial visit experience that could put the Hurricanes in a prime position for when he makes his college decision.
