The recruitment of one longtime Michigan target is going to come to an end on Monday when Elk Grove (Calif.) Monterey Trail SI four-star athlete Prophet Brown announces his college decision.

Standing at 5-11 and 180 pounds, Brown is a talented two-way player that shines at both running back and cornerback for the Mustangs. Back in March, Brown announced a top group of Michigan, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Oregon, Notre Dame and USC, but the versatile prospect is going to come off the board when he announces his commitment on July 20.

Brown, who was recently named an SI All-American candidate on Wednesday, has been pursued at both running back and cornerback through his recruitment. Over this time period, all six programs have shown a strong desire to land the dynamic athlete, but his preferred position is likely going to be a dominant factor when he makes his decision.

For example, Oklahoma and Oregon are recruiting Brown to play cornerback in college, while the Wolverines view the California prospect as a running back. However, Wolverine Digest has learned that Brown is strongly in favor of playing on defense at the next level, and the expectation is that he will commit to Oklahoma early next week.

At the moment, Michigan has the No. 6 recruiting class in the country according to Rivals.com, and Brown is considered the No. 11 athlete in the country by the same service.

In terms of the impact for Michigan recruiting when Brown comes off the board, the Wolverines will still be in search of a running back pledge in the 2021 cycle. West Bloomfield (Mich.) Highs' Donovan Edwards is by far the top target at the spot, but Del Valle (Texas) High four-star Tavierre Dunlap is also hearing from U-M. As for the team's secondary recruiting, Michigan has a lone commitment from Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas three-star cornerback Ja'Den McBurrows, and Clayton (Ohio) Northmont three-star Rod Moore is Michigan's singular safety commit at the moment.

Here is a look at the SI All-American breakdown of presently uncommitted 2021 athlete:

Frame: Sturdy frame with ideal frame for nickel corner or spread offense running back. Room for additional weight throughout.
Athleticism: Balanced running style with a strong upright running motion. Easily manipulates his core and shoulders to get skinny around edges and through holes. With his plus straight-line speed, he genuinely makes returning kicks/punts look like a piece of cake.
Instincts: Exceptional vision as a ball carrier. A very dynamic player with a non-stop motor. Very efficient runner. Valuable experience running through traffic in the box, and he’s got experience using his speed to stretch open cutback lanes.
Polish: One-cut-and-go type of running back: His favorite “move” is the jump cut. My favorite part was when he beat the entire team to the boundary and into the end zone again and again. And again. He’s tough to just get a hand on.
Bottom Line: Two things come to mind after watching Prophet Brown’s tape. The first is: He might be a good collegiate cornerback. The second is this: He will be a good running back or slot in space. He’s got serious wheels and is hard enough to touch, let alone tackle.

Where do you think Prophet Brown is going to commit to on Monday? If you were to coach Brown at the next level, would you steer him towards a career at running back or at cornerback? Let us know!
