Izzo said of the win “I thought we did our best job trying to deal with all the distractions of WE played pretty well. I was proud of my team, I really really was.”
Joshua Langford led the way for the Spartans with 19. Cassius Winston had 13 points and Jaren Jackson, Jr. (3J) had 12 points and eight rebounds. Miles Bridges rounded out the scorers in double digits. He had 11 and nine rebounds.
Izzo said of this Big Ten road win, “I got a lot of pride in those guys. I think they were playing for a lot of people today. My heart still goes out to the survivors. I think we showed that we are going to try to be part of the healing process.”
Izzo added, “This was a big win for us, but it is going to be a grind. We’ve got a lot of things to cover. We got a lot of things to go over. I just hope that everybody rallies behind this team a little bit and I hope we all rally behind the survivors and we make our community a better place.”
The Spartans improved to 20-3 (8-2) on the season. They return to action on Wednesday at 6:30 PM at the friendly confines of the Breslin Center. They will play host to the Penn State Nittany Lions. That game can be seen on BTN.
