Where MSU Stands in Odds to Land Bronny James

Michigan State's odds of landing transfer guard Bronny James might be better than you think.

Former USC men's basketball guard Bronny James, son of one of the greatest basketball players of all time, LeBron James, recently entered the transfer portal after just one season as a Trojan.

Wherever the 6-foot-4, 210-pound guard chooses to go next is anyone's guess. Which makes it all the more fun to talk about.

As of Thursday, Michigan State is tied for ninth on the list of best odds to land Bronny, per BetOnline. The site has the Spartans' odds at 12/1 (+1200).

No. 1 is Ohio State, of course, as Bronny's father most likely would have played for the Buckeyes, had he not foregone college to enter the NBA Draft straight out of high school. The odds of Bronny joining OSU are 3/1 (+300).

Below is the entire list:

Ohio State 3/1 (+300)

Oregon 4/1 (+400)

Duquesne 5/1 (+500)

SMU 7/1 (+700)

Duke 7/1 (+700)

San Diego State 9/1 (+900)

Akron 10/1 (+1000)

North Carolina 10/1 (+1000)

Michigan State 12/1 (+1200)

UCLA 12/1 (+1200)

Dayton 12/1 (+1400)

Miami 16/1 (+1600)

Arizona 20/1 (+2000)

Gonzaga 20/1 (+2000)

Pepperdine 25/1 (+2500)

St. John's 25/1 (+2500)

Kansas 33/1 (+3300)

Kentucky 33/1 (+3300)

Bronny made his USC debut on Dec. 10 after missing the first eight games of the Trojans' season due to his recovery from cardiac arrest, which he suffered in July.

He averaged 4.8 points per game, 2.1 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 19.3 minutes through 25 games (six starts).

Spartans coach Tom Izzo revealed on the "The Dan Patrick Show" in March, 2023 that MSU "did recruit [Bronny] a little bit." Izzo said he discussed it with LeBron at former Michigan State forward Draymond Green's wedding.

LeBron and Green are good friends, who have gone to battle against one another in four consecutive NBA Finals.

Bronny's family resides in Los Angeles, which played an obvious role in his decision to go to USC in the first place. Considering the young guard wanted to stay so close to home, it would be quite surprising if he decided to pack up and head out to the Midwest and join a school that wasn't Ohio State.

The Michigan State Spartan Football Spring Green and White Game (Spartan Showcase) will be held at the High Cathedral of the Spartan Nation, Spartan Stadium, on April 20, 2024, at 2 p.m.
