The Bulldogs were swept in a weekend series for the first team this season, which saw them fall in every major softball ranking this week.

Mississippi State’s softball team had won at least one game in every three-game series this season, including a win against No. 1 Texas in the series opener.

But that streak came to an end against No. 2 Oklahoma this weekend and so did the Bulldogs’ place in the top 16 in the latest top 25 rankings released Tuesday.

Mississippi State (33-14, 9-9 SEC) fell four spots in the D1Softball Top 25 rankings to No. 19 (one spot ahead of rival Ole Miss). The Bulldogs also fell four spots to No. 20 in the latest Softball America poll, but fell just one spot in the NFCA/GoRout Division I Top 25 Coaches Poll.

Mississippi State will be back on the road this weekend with a three-game series against Kentucky (27-20, 6-12 SEC) starting 5 p.m. Friday on SEC Network.
