It may be the offseason, but the action across sports of ll types truly does never stop.

Outside of events like the NFL Draft, which takes the cake on viewership, two of the most other highly anticipated happenings are the NBA Draft and the MLB Draft.

Here's a look into three takeaways from the first round:

1. Victor Wembanyama was always the first overall pick.

The center out of France was the first overall pick years before he announced he was going to be in the 2023 NBA draft. He stands at 7-foot-5 with the handle of a guard and a shooting ability similar to Kevin Durant.

His potential is that of a generational talent which the San Antonio Spurs are used to as they also drafted Tim Duncan and David Robinson with the first overall pick in the 90s.

2. No trades for the Portland Trailblazers.

With reports that their superstar player Damian Lillard not wanting to be in a rebuilding situation, speculations ran rapidly with multiple options for their future. Either they would trade the third overall pick for a star player to pair with Lillard or they would trade him to start their rebuild.

They did neither and instead drafted Scoot Henderson who some debated could be better than Wembanyama with his freakish athleticism and crazy work ethic.

3. Most things predictable.

The first part of the draft went about as planned with no real surprises at hand. Teams selected that projected players that fit their needs while the trades outside of the draft have been one for ages. Bradley Beal is now a Phoenix Sun, Chris Paul is a Golden State Warrior, and Marcus Smart is now a Memphis Grizzle.

As the offseason has started off with a bang with some exciting rookies set to take the court, the upcoming season on the horizon will be something to keep an eye on.
