Izaac Dickey is a walk-on freshman at the University of Nebraska and plays fullback for the Cornhuskers. From the town of Stromsburg, Neb., he measures in at about 5-foot-10 and 210 pounds, according to Huskers.com.

Below is his bio on Huskers.com.

“Izaac Dickey was a standout performer at Cross County High School, helping the Cougars to 29 victories in his final three seasons. Dickey was a three-year starter at fullback and finished his high school career with 1,778 rushing yards and 40 touchdowns while adding 203 tackles and 16 tackles for loss on defense.

"As a senior, Dickey rushed for 899 yards and 19 touchdowns, including three 100-yard games. He also caught seven passes for 101 yards. He added 81 tackles, two tackles for loss, and three fumble recoveries, helping Coach Matt Carroll’s team to a 10-1 record and a trip to the state quarterfinals. Dickey was a Class D-1 all-state pick by the Omaha World-Herald for his play.

"As a junior, Dickey rushed for 846 yards and 21 touchdowns and recorded 68 tackles as an honorable-mention all-state pick. In his sophomore season, Dickey had 40 tackles for Cross County’s state runner-up team.

Dickey is also a state champion powerlifter in the 199 to 220-pound weight class.”

His father, Ryan, caught up with HuskerMax to talk more about his son.

“Izaac’s physicality and fullback mentality make him special on the field,” Ryan Dickey stated. “It takes a special athlete to play fullback. He doesn’t worry about getting the glory or stats. He just wants to win his battle each play to help the team succeed. He truly understands what his role is as a Nebraska homegrown fullback and embraces it.”

He has high expectations not only for his son but for his son’s team as well.

“My expectations for Izaac are to just always work hard and keep battling. He has the mindset to keep getting better each day. As for the team, it’s always just fun to see a team play with grit and physicality and truly play with a team mentality.”

“Being from Nebraska, it’s always every dad’s dream to see their son get the opportunity to play in Lincoln. With that being said, I couldn’t be happier. We talked about what being a fullback at Nebraska means and how a small-town kid like him can represent what this state is about through his work ethic.”

He recalls the decision timing and when he committed.

“I think it’s always been his dream to be a Husker. After he attended camp at the beginning of June, he knew he wanted to be in Nebraska for sure. He had a better idea of where he stood and that he could compete at the level he needed to be able to be at Nebraska. My reaction to Izaac committing to Nebraska was just happiness. I knew all of the work he had put in over the years in the weight room, so it was just great to see it pay off for him.”

“Izaac is a hard worker off the field. He’s a kind and compassionate kid that wants to do well in school and puts a ton of work into preparing himself in the weight room.”
