Elite Guard Sir Mohammed Commits To Notre Dame

Notre Dame head basketball coach Micah Shrewsberry remains red hot on the recruiting trail, this time by landing a commitment from big time guard Sir Mohammed. The Charlotte (N.C.) Myers Park standout committed to Notre Dame over Villanova, Stanford, Virginia Tech and Marquette.

Mohammed is ranked as the No. 42 player in the country and the No. 7 combo guard in the country according to 247Sports. Rivals ranks him as the nation's No. 56 overall player.

Mohammed is the second highest ranked recruit to sign with Notre Dame in the last decade according to 247Sports, behind only JJ Starling and just ahead of former star guard Demetrius Jackson.

Earlier in the week Notre Dame landed a commitment from Virginia star forward Garrett Sundra. The 6-10 forward ranks as the nation's No. 92 overall player according to ESPN. Shrewsberry's first commitment in the class came from Illinois shooter Cole Certa, who ranks as the No. 90 player in the country according to 247Sports.

Mohammed is the son of former Kentucky star Nazr Mohammed, who played for the Wildcats from 1995-98 and helped the program win national championships in 1996 and 1998. He averaged 12.0 points and 7.2 rebounds for the 1997-98 Wildcat team that went 35-4.

The elder Mohammed was a first-round pick of the Utah Jazz in the 1998 NBA Draft. He would go on to play for eight different NBA teams over 18 seasons in the NBA, playing in 1,005 career games.

He played for the Team Curry 17U team this summer.

With Mohammed in the class Notre Dame's 2024 group now moves up to No. 5 in the national rankings.
