Notre Dame women’s basketball continues to hold in place at No. 10 in this week’s Associated Press basketball poll. The Fighting Irish (22-4, 13-3 ACC) remain No. 10 for a third consecutive week after last Thursday’s thrilling 78-76 overtime win over Louisville and Sunday’s 83-43 trouncing of Pittsburgh.

The top three spots in the poll are unchanged this week. Defending national champion South Carolina (27-0) remains No. 1 for the 35th consecutive week after thwarting an overtime scare from Ole Miss. The Gamecocks beat the unranked Rebels 64-57 after outscoring their SEC rival 9-2 in the extra frame.

One more week in the top spot will tie Louisiana Tech for the second-longest run at the top of the AP rankings. UConn holds the all-time record at 51 consecutive weeks.

South Carolina received 27 of 28 first-place votes, with the other going to No. 2 Indiana (26-1). The Hoosiers have won 14 straight games and are 9-0 against AP Top 25 teams this season. Stanford (25-3) remains No. 3.

UConn (24-4) is up two spots to No. 4, LSU (25-1) remains No. 5, Iowa (22-5) and Maryland (22-5) each moved up a spot to No. 6 and 7, respectively, after Utah (23-3) fell four spots after last week’s loss to now No. 14 Arizona.

Other ACC teams in the poll this week are No. 9 Virginia Tech (22-4), who leapfrogged the Irish by moving up two spots after wins over Duke and NC State last week, Duke (23-4) fell two spots to No. 11, North Carolina (19-8) is down three to No. 22, and Florida State (22-7) is up one to No. 23.

Notre Dame’s four losses this season are to No. 7 Maryland, No. 11 Duke, No. 22 North Carolina, and NC State. The Irish have wins over No. 4 UConn, No. 9 Virginia Tech and No. 23 Florida State.
