Notre Dame Women's Basketball No. 10 In Preseason AP Poll

In this story:
Notre Dame checks in at No. 10 in the Preseason Associated Press Women’s College Basketball Poll. The Fighting Irish return four primary starters and four key reserves from a team that finished 27-6 after winning the ACC’s regular season championship and making a run to a second straight NCAA Sweet 16.
Irish head coach Niele Ivey is heading into her fourth season as head coach. She welcomed transfers Anna DeWolfe and Becky Obinma as well as McDonald’s All-Americans Hannah Hidalgo and Emma Risch in the offseason. Her top three scorers, Sonia Citron (14.7 ppg), Olivia Miles (14.3) and Maddy Westbeld (11.2) top the list of returnees.
Defending national champion LSU sits atop the preseason poll with 35 first-place votes. UConn is No. 2 and garnered the only other first-place vote. Last year’s national runner-up, Iowa, is No. 3, followed by UCLA, Utah, South Carolina, Ohio State, Virginia Tech, and Indiana ahead of the No. 10 Fighting Irish.
Tennessee comes in at No. 11. The Volunteers are one of eight preseason top 25 teams that Notre Dame will face this season. The Irish face the Vols in in Knoxville in the ACC/SEC Challenge in November. They also open the season in Paris, France against No. 6 South Carolina.
Other ranked opponents the Fighting Irish will play this season include: No. 2 UConn (road), No. 8 Virginia Tech (home), No. 16 North Carolina (home), No. 17 Louisville (home and away), No. 18 Florida State (road), and No. 23 Illinois (neutral site in Washington, D.C.).
