It didn’t take long for Notre Dame’s Tuesday night matchup against Chicago State to get out of hand. The Fighting Irish (4-1) breezed to a 113-35 win over the visiting Cougars (0-6) with three players establishing new scoring career highs and another joining elite company for her latest performance. The 78-point win is the second largest margin in program history.

The Irish used a 12-2 run to go up 16-5 and never looked back from there, closing with a 9-0 run to make it 28-10 at the end of the first 10 minutes. Notre Dame topped the 100-point mark for the third time in four games when all was said and done.

Things did start slowly for Hannah Hidalgo. The freshman point guard was named National Freshman of the Week earlier in the day but went to the bench just two minutes into the game after picking up her second foul. Hidalgo scored six points in the first half then came out hot in the second half with 13 points in the third quarter, finishing with a game-high 23 points.

Hidalgo has topped the 20-point mark in the first five games of her career. She joins Arike Ogunbowale, Alicia Ratay, Jewell Loyd, and current Irish assistant Charel Allen as just the fifth player in school history to score 20+ points in five consecutive games.

But Hidalgo wasn’t the only Irish player with a milestone performance. Fellow freshman Emma Risch entered the night with 13 total points through her first four games but had 12 by halftime and finished with 16 thanks to going 4 for 6 from 3-point range.

Nat Marshall turned in a career night as well with 20 points on 8 for 10 shooting from the field and going 4 for 5 at the free throw line.

"Nat's just been getting better and better every game," Irish head coach Niele Ivey said after the lopsided win. "She's super efficient and active on the defensive end. She's such a spark for us off the bench."

Cassandre Prosper also had a new career best with 19 points. She had six steals as well. KK Bransford was the fifth Irish player in double digits with 10 points.

Maddy Westbeld missed a double-double by two points but pulled down 15 rebounds. She was three shy of tying her career best in that department.

Notre Dame scored 45 points off 21 turnovers. They dominated on the boards 52-31 and turned that into a 66-10 scoring advantage in the paint. They also had 45 fast break points.
