Notre Dame Makes A Strong Analyst Hire On Offense

In this story:
Notre Dame is poised to make a strong hire for the offensive staff, with Football Scoop reporting that Marcus Freeman plans to hire Trent Miles as an offensive analyst. Miles is a familiar name for Notre Dame fans and brings an impressive background to the analyst staff.
Miles has a long track record with new Notre Dame offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock. Most recently, Miles served as an offensive analyst at LSU (2022-23), where he worked directly with Denbrock. LSU had the nation's top offense in 2023, leading the nation no points per game, yards per game and yards per play.
Miles and Denbrock also worked together for seven seasons at three stops. Their first stint together was for the 2001 season at Stanford, with Miles coaching wide receivers and Denbrock coaching tackles/tight ends. They were assistants at Notre Dame from 2002-04, with both coaches serving in the same roles they had at Stanford. Both moved on to Washington and coached together from 2005-07, with Denbrock coaching the offensive line and Miles coaching running backs.
Miles played a key role in the development of players like Jeff Samardzija, Rhema McKnight and Maurice Stovall during his tenure with the Irish.
An Indiana native and Indiana State graduate, Miles returned home in 2008 to become the head coach for the Sycamores (2008-12). After starting 1-22, Miles led the Sycamores to three straight winning seasons, finishing with a 19-14 record. He was then hired at Georgia State, where he served as head coach for four seasons (2013-16).
Miles served as an assistant coach/quality control coach with the Philadelphia Eagles from 2017-21. The Eagles won Super Bowl LII in his first season with the organization. Miles left the Eagles to join Denbrock at LSU.
Having a coach with this level of experience as a coach, and experience working with the offensive coordinator would be an excellent hire for Notre Dame.
