Notre Dame senior wide receiver Chris Tyree announced today that he is entering the transfer portal, ending his Fighting Irish career.

"I would like to start by saying Thank You to the entire Notre Dame community for giving me the experience of a lifetime as a student-athlete," Tyree said in a statement. "I am especially grateful to my coaches, professors, friends and most importantly my teammates for making this journey unforgettable. My love for this University will never waiver, and I will always be proud to say that I earned my degree from Notre Dame. The relationships that I've built over the last 4 years will be cherished for the rest of my life. Notre Dame will forever hold a special place in my heart.

"After many conversations and prayer, I've come to the heartfelt decision to enter my name into the transfer portal as a graduate."

Tyree came to Notre Dame as a top running back recruit, and he made his presence felt immediately, rushing for 496 yards (6.8 yards per carry) on a Notre Dame team that made the College Football Playoff.

He's been an explosive player through his career, ripping off three 80+ yard touchdowns in his career as a runner, kick returner and punt returner.

After spending three years at running back, Tyree was moved to wide receiver as a senior. He finished the regular season as Notre Dame's top pass catcher from a yards standpoint, racking up 484 yards on just 26 catches (18.6 yards per catch) to go with three touchdowns.

Tyree also had an 82 yard punt return in Notre Dame's 58-7 win over Pittsburgh.
