Post-Game Show: Notre Dame Dominates Navy To Start The 2023 Seasons

In this story:
The 13th-ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish kicked off the 2023 season in impressive fashion, beating rival Navy by a 42-3 score. Notre Dame dominated from beginning to end to earn a sixth straight win over the Midshipmen.
After the game the Irish Breakdown crew got together to dive into what we saw from Notre Dame and what we learned from the win.
OFFENSE BREAKDOWN
The first portion of the show dove into a big picture look at the win and then took a more detailed look at the Fighting Irish offense.
It was an important win over Notre Dame, not because of the opponent, but because of how the Irish played. The physical, fast and passionate team we saw in spring practice translated to game day in the season opener.
Offensively, we obviously spent plenty of time talking about quarterback Sam Hartman, but there was a lot more to discuss in this game. The Notre Dame running backs showed off impressive depth in the win, and the ball was spread around nicely in the pass game. We broke down the play of the wideouts, including the breakout from freshman Jaden Greathouse and strong performance from players like Deion Colzie, Jayden Thomas and Chris Tyree.
The offensive line shined in the win as well, and we got our first glimpse at the new guards, who impressed.
DEFENSE BREAKDOWN
Notre Dame bottled up the Navy offense and had answers for all the different looks the Midshipmen threw at them. We broke down what we saw and how Notre Dame combatted the wrinkles to start the show.
The Irish linebackers got off to a strong start as well and we discussed their performance, including that of veteran Marist Liufau, who was a standout for the Irish defense. The defensive line was strong in some spots and not in others, which we discussed as well.
The back end of the defense was an interesting story, with some good and some not so good.
