THE FINALISTS

Here is a look at Gilbert and his seven finalists:

Notre Dame - For Notre Dame, landing Gilbert is an important piece to the 2024 wide receiver class. The Fighting Irish have already landed commitments from Cam Williams and Isiah Canion, but Gilbert brings a much different skillset that Notre Dame needs more of. Gilbert visited Notre Dame for the Blue-Gold Game and the Irish made a tremendous impact on him. Gilbert connected with Notre Dame five-star commits CJ Carr (QB) and Williams.

Michigan - Gilbert visited Michigan in March and has built up a strong relationship with wide receivers coach Ron Bellamy. Michigan also has a commitment from Charlotte (N.C.) Providence Day quarterback Jadyn Davis, who plays at a rival school of Gilbert's. The two squads played each other twice last season, with Charlotte Christian winning in the regular season and Providence Day winning in the playoffs.

North Carolina - The Tar Heels are the top in-state program for Gilbert heading into his final decision. He visited North Carolina on multiple occasions, including a visit in early April. The pass heavy North Carolina offense and the location are two primary reasons why the Tar Heels are a top contender for Gilbert.

South Carolina - Gilbert has also traveled to South Carolina on multiple occasions and clearly holds the Gamecocks in high regard. Heading into this decision, however, it appears South Carolina has fallen behind other programs.

Pittsburgh - The Charlotte Christian standout made his way up North to Pittsburgh in mid-March. His relationship with wide receivers coach Tiquan Underwood has played a key role in the Panthers being in his final list of schools. There is also a family connection, with his uncle Sean Gilbert (1992 first round pick) and his cousin Darrelle Revis (2007 first round pick) both being former stars for the Panthers.

Duke - The Blue Devils have worked hard to get into the mix with Gilbert, whose older brother Mark Gilbert Jr. was a standout for the Blue Devils (2016-20).

Virginia Tech - Gilbert was also a frequent visitor of Virginia Tech, having trekked there three times in the past. Virginia Tech hasn't hosted Gilbert since January and appear to be on the outside looking in for Gilbert.
