Notre Dame continues scouring the nation for top players in the 2025 class, and that led the Fighting Irish to offer 2025 dual-sport athlete Dalen Penson of Tyrone (Ga.) Sandy Creek. Penson is a great athlete and 2023 state triple jump champion, who plays defensive back, wide receiver and quarterback on the gridiron. The 5’11’ 165-pound speedster has tremendous versatility and creates big play on both sides of the ball.

Penson’s primary communication has been with Coach Chad Bowden and Coach Deland McCullough as the Irish staff begins getting to better know the talented athlete.

"I’ve spoken to the running back coach a few times," Penson told Irish Breakdown. "Coach Chad .... officially gave me the offer. I’m really excited and honored to get an offer like this from a school as prestigious as Notre Dame.”

The versatile athlete is an incredible offensive weapon with the ball in his hands for the Sandy Creek Patriots. As a junior he hauled in 22 receptions for 452 yards with four touchdowns as a receiver, and carried the ball 103 times for 814 yards with eight touchdowns as a rusher.

As a signal caller, Penson completed 82 of his154 pass attempts for 1,052 yards and eight more touchdowns. That game-breaking ability is exactly the chess piece level of talent the Fighting Irish have been targeting in the 2025 offensive class.

"They like my speed and versatility,” Penson explained. "Talking with the running back coach, I would say they like my athleticism and ability to go out on the field and give it my all. They want to use me all over the field.”

He currently holds other Power 5 offers from Vanderbilt, Kentucky, Indiana and Georgia Tech. There are no immediate plans for a visit, but Penson is looking forward to setting a visit to South Bend in the near future.

"I definitely want to get up there,” Penson detailed. "I’m planning to get up there for a camp. We spoke about it over the phone and I’m looking into dates for the visit. We just have to deal with my track schedule.”

Penson has a personal best of 14.21 in the 110-meter hurdles and triple jump best of 45'10".

Penson told Irish Breakdown his plan right now is to commit after his senior season.
