Georgia Offensive Lineman Josh Petty Grateful For Notre Dame Offer

In this story:
Historically, you aren’t going to find many better developers of offensive lineman than Notre Dame. Obviously a lot of that credit needs to go to the coaches, harnessing the raw tools and developing them into NFL caliber offensive lineman. Of course, development is limited if there isn’t talent in the room, which Notre Dame has had plenty of over the years.
The Irish staff added another talented member to the recruiting board on Tuesday when an offer was extended to 2025 Roswell (Ga.) Fellowship Christian School offensive tackle Josh Petty. That offer was met with a lot of excitement from Petty, who is one of the more talented offensive lineman in the 2025 class.
"Notre Dame is a great school both academically and athletically,” Petty told Irish Breakdown. "Getting that offer means a lot to me especially because I really like the head coach and being able to get an offer like that early on in my career is amazing.”
Petty has already heard from a host of talented programs. The demand is going to be high for the Georgia native, although he plans to give each program an equal chance.
"A lot of schools have made a great first impression on me, especially on all of the visits I’ve taken,” Petty explained. "I look at every school that has offered me or shown any interest in me no matter what level. I’m just grateful to have the opportunities I’ve had so far.
"Setting up visits recently has been kind of tough with school coming to an end in summer coming up, but I plan to take a lot of visits during the summer to just about all the schools that I’ve offered me like Notre Dame, Michigan, Oregon, Stanford, Duke, UNC, Auburn, LSU, and Houston,” he continued. “It’s going to be a busy couple of months.”
Petty has already set the criteria that he wants to find in a school. It appears that Notre Dame does fit that checklist pretty well.
"In schools, I really look for player development and what kind of athlete they’re going to turn me into as well as the academics of the school,” he explained. “I really want a great degree that is going to be in something long after my football career.”
Petty is considered as a four-star recruit by both On3 and 247Sports, the two recruiting platforms that have ranked Petty so far. He ranks highest by On3, who has the Georgia standout pegged as the No. 18 overall player and No. 2 offensive tackle in the 2025 recruiting class. 247Sports has Petty ranked as the No. 41 overall player and No. 4 offensive tackle in the class.
The 6-5, 260-pound offensive tackle has already attracted the interest of several notable programs. Some of Petty’s top offers so far include Notre Dame, Georgia, Michigan, LSU, Penn State, Tennessee, Oregon, Auburn, Stanford, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech among others.
Petty’s athletic skills are not just limited to the football field. He is also an outstanding wrestler for Fellowship Christian, leading to a 29-3 record as a sophomore for the school.
